Regional Activities and Benefits
- Proclaiming the Gospel
- There are 40 churches in the region who offer Worship services which include communion,
and community projects, all of which are designed to proclaim and follow the gospel. To

- Caring for Congregations
- The Regional Leadership assists congregations in the search and call process to call
a new minister and in conflict resolution. They also participate in celebrations such as
dedications, installations, and retirements.
- Enabling Congregations to do things together that cannot be done alone
- The Region organizes and supports conferences for our major fellowship goups of Men, Women, and Youth
. It also networks resources, sharing the vitality of our congregational and general church
life through the regional newsletter, email lists and website.
- Calling out and Developing Leaders
- The fellowships of Men,
Women, and Youth hold retreats and seminars which are educational and are led by lay persons.
The Educational Ministry offers scholarships and assistance in choosing colleges.
Youth and Youth leaders are encouraged to volunteer to assist with camp activities.
Other ministries which develop leaders include evangelistic ministry, Bible School
Convention
,Outreach ministry, and State Ushers.,
- Caring for Ministers and the Ministry
- The Region sponsors a yearly retreat for ministers and spouses designed for ministerial development.
Our Commission on Ministry Team conducts sessions to help new ministers obtain standing in the
denomination. The ministry is strengthened through the calling of new ministers, licensing, ordaining
and developing current ministers
- Gathering as a Regional Expression of the Church

The annual regional conference is a time for worship, fellowship and regional business. Participation
from all churches in the region is invited.
- Managing the Church's Resources
- The Regional Board oversees the spending and
allocation of funds received by the region.
- Encouraging New Forms of MIssion
and Ministry
- We partner with congregations in the new church ministry effort

- Teaching Stewardship

The region sponsors seminars on Christian Stewardship.
- Advancing the Priorities
of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)
- The regional office acts as the official
connection to the General Ministries throughout our denomination...especially with Church
Extension, Disciples Home Mission, National Convocation, Barton College, Christmount
and IDWF.
- Leading in Ecumencal Ministries
- The region contributes to the
South Carolina Christian Action Council both financially and service on the board. The SCCAC
is an ecumenical organization which fights for justice and equality of all. A regional anti-racism
team is in place to focus efforts toward the eradication of racism regardless of church affiliation.
